Raichur

Known as the Rice Bowl of India, Raichur has the only gold manufacturing unit in the country and the nation’s most efficient thermal power plant. The district is set to further its growth with a solar photovoltaic power plant and a proposed SEZ. The district also ranks first in sweet lime production in the state. Other agricultural products are brinjal, chilli and mangoes. There are over 100 rice mills in the district and 15% of its SSI units are engaged in textile-based activities. The established trading market for cotton and leather products adds impetus to the textile industries in the region.
