Karnataka has the largest number of tourist destinations in India. The landscape in the state is a wonderful mix of hills, plains, rivers, waterfalls, beaches and forests teeming with wildlife. Karnataka has a 320 kilometres-long coastline, which boasts of pristine beaches. The state hosts UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the magnificent monuments at Hampi and Pattadakal, and the ancient Hoysala temples in Belur, Halebid, and Somanathapur. The Karnataka State Department of Archaeology Museums and Heritage protects 844 monuments, and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) maintains 609 sites.

Market on the rise, with tourist arrivals reaching 28.45 crore in 2023, up from 18 crore in 2022. The state aims to attract 48 crore tourists in India to be among the top three states in India's tourism market.
