Ballari

The Steel City of south India, Ballari is the second-fastest growing city in the state of Karnataka. Situated on the eastern side of the state, the place is rich in natural mineral reserves. This, coupled with the growth of sectors like Textile and Tourism provides immense investment opportunities in the region. With more than 18,000 small scale industries and 70 large and medium scale industries, Ballari is at the forefront of growth. Cereals and oilseeds dominate its net sown land.

Land

Water

Tungabhadra, Hagari and Chikkahagari are the three rivers in Ballari district. The district heavily relies on Tungabhadra Dam as its main source for irrigation and also has a canal network that irrigates 37% of its net sown area.

Power

The Ballari Thermal Power Station is the second-largest thermal plant in Karnataka generating 500 MW of power. The Kaduthini Ballari Thermal Power Station, Hampi Power House and the Munirabad Power House form the main sources of electricity in the district.

Human Resources

With more than 67% literacy rate and the presence of several engineering and polytechnic institutions, Ballari provides a strong talent pool of trained professionals.

Natural Resources

The mineral reserves in the district are distinct with iron ore, manganese ore, quartz and granite fuelling steel industries amongst others.

Connectivity

Ballari has access to three international and two domestic airports. The place is also well-connected by rail to Bengaluru and Guntkal in Andhra Pradesh. National Highway 63 and 13 pass through the district adding road access. Sea connectivity is via the ports of Karwar and Mangaluru.
