Yadgir

Yadgir is the 30th district in the state and the most recently formed one. The region is lucrative for investments across sectors. The region’s top three cultivated crops include cereals, pulses and commercial crops. Jowar, paddy, red gram, sunflower, groundnut are the major crops in these categories. Yadgir district is a developing industrial area rich in uranium resources. Availability of processed uranium which can be used for defence and power generation purposes is set to foster growth in the region. The district has about 1000 looms spread all over the region. Handloom, as well as traditional crafts, are also potential sectors in the region.

Land

Water

Yadgir’s main source of water that accounts for over 90% of the district’s water supply is River Bhīma which originates in the neighbouring state of Maharashtra.

Power

Yadgir power supply transmission is done by Kalaburgi (Gulbarga) Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (GESCOM).

It has natural resources like building stone, copper, gold, feldspar, quartz, limestone and uranium.

Some of the key institutions of higher learning are Nivedita Education Society, Don Bosco School & College, Jawahar Education Society and R.V. Education Trust.

Connectivity

The district is well connected to metro cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi. Bengaluru International Airport provides air access. Hyderabad airport is only 180 km from Yadgir. Two National Highways – NH 12and NH 206 along with state highways connect the region by road. The nearest seaport is Goa at 520 km.
