Haveri

Identified as one of the nodes on the Bengaluru – Mumbai Economic Corridor from Karnataka, Haveri is a district with immense growth potential. The district has the world-famous chilly market at Byadagi and is a major export hub as well. Agriculture is the mainstay of Haveri with 69.51% of its net area under cultivation. Maize, paddy, jowar and ragi are also grown here. The spice advantage of the region is well harnessed and the state government has proposed a 120 acre Spice Park further to enhance the scope of cultivation in the district. An agro-food sector project with an investment of INR 1 billion is also approved. Apart from leading industries, Haveri also has several cooperatives in the district providing an opportunity for investments in agriculture-related domains.

Land

Haveri has a total area of 4,85,156 ha. About 69.51% of the land is utilized for agriculture. Remaining 9.05% comprises of forest cover, 10.78% of uncultivated land. The district has about 10.66% of land area to spare.

Water

Haveri district has three important rivers Tungabhadra, Dhama & Varada flowing through the district.

Power

Power transmission in the district is done by Hubballi (Hubli) Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (HESCOM). Power generation is handled by the Biomass Power Project in the district. The district's industry need is 28.56 MU and domestic need is 135.48 MU.

Haveri has natural resources that include china clay, sand and building stone.

Engineering College, Haveri, S.T.J Institute Of Technology, Ranebennur, B.R.Tambakad Arts, Commerce and Science College, Hirekerur, JESS Shri Kumareshwar Education College, Hangal and P V S Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Ranebennur.

Connectivity

Haveri has three international airports and two domestic airports covering its air routes. The Bengaluru-Hubballi-Mumbai railway line passes through Ranebennur, Haveri, Byadagi and Savanur towns in Haveri. The Bengaluru – Pune national highway passes through major towns in the district providing connectivity via road, and Goa, Karwar and Mangaluru ports provide the sea links here.
